The Department of Materials Engineering (DEMAR) started its activities in 1978 with the Niobium Project (check out our story) and since 2006 has joined the Lorena School of Engineering (EEL), one of the Teaching and Research Units of the largest university in Brazil, the University of São Paulo (USP).
DEMAR coordinates and ministers the specific disciplines of undergraduate courses in Engineering Physics and Materials Engineering, as well as disciplines related to the materials area of the EEL/USP Basic Cycle. The department’s faculty also teach courses and dissertations in the Graduate Program in Materials Engineering (master’s and doctorate) and in the Graduate Program in Educational Sciences Projects (professional master’s degree).
DEMAR’s facilities are located in Area II of EEL/USP, in the city of Lorena, 200km from São Paulo (access route).
